Web Dev

Passionately creating for the web since the mid 90's, I'm a professional full-stack designer, developer, strategist, and Microsoft Certified Web Developer (MCD). Captivated by the power of the internet since day one, I've deployed many sites and applications over the years, helped build businesses - including my own - and have brought countless ideas to life online.

Since 2008, I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as the Web Communications and Operations Manager for UTMB Health, The Universtity of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, TX. Our core web properties include www.UTMB.edu and www.UTMBHealth.com.

Over the course of my career at UTMB Health, I have designed, built and managed many websites, apps, and projects. I was first to introduce official web templating systems to the institution, first to introduce responsive web design, brought the UTMB Sitefinity CMS to production in 2015, which is effectively hosting hundreds of sites now, and I still manage these systems today.

I've been involved with official brand standards, including a complete rebrand across the organization, helped to created several iterations of web guidelines, written robust documentation, and have developed numerous custom applications in a variety of technologies.

I've assisted with marketing, internal communications, media relations and emergency communication endeavors, have dramatically improved web functionality, usability, and accessibility. I've served on committees, workgroups and teams, worked with vendors and contractors, trained staff, provided hands-on customer support, and continue to be a strong advocate for institutional investment in the web.

Below are a few more recent examples of my web work.

Web Templates and Content Management

Lead designer and developer of the UTMB Web Frontend Framework and UTMB Sitefinity CMS.

Design

Lead designer for the UTMB Web Frontend Framework currently in its 4x version release. Strong focus on multi-device responsive design, web accessibility, unified brand identity, custom user interface (UI) components, numerous dynamic layout options and customizations — all from a single code base.

Development

Lead developer of the UTMB Sitefinity Web Content Management System (CMS). UTMB Sitefinity is the official web CMS of UTMB, with multiple production instances and hundreds of sites (tenants) currently in production. I manage the code base, upgrades, templates and components.

Strategy

From concept to completion, I'm hands-on and all-in with all aspects of the web from design to development to deployment, custom solutions, extensibility, system integration, performance, management, and web content creation which can be seen at the UTMB Web Resources site at www.utmb.edu/web.
